Press attaché at the housing ministry Ahmed Madani said statements made by a German engineering department are no more than baseless and false allegations.

This comes as the engineering department said the Algiers Mosque project will be delayed and will not be achieved before 2018.

Madani held the department responsible for the alleged slow path of the project works is caused. “Those lies are just a revenge campaign as the government stopped working with it in an early time,” he said.

“The ministry is committed to deliver the Mosque by the end of 2016 even if in a gradual way. The German engineering department should keep silent as it failed in its mission,” he told Echorouk on the phone.

He added that the department did not respect agreed obligations and the contract terms. “The German engineering department was not professional at all. It run this big and sensitive project via two employees. They were remotely controlled in Germany. This shows its failure.”

Madani believes that the exclusion of the department from supervising the Great Mosque works is the real reason behind this criticism.

“The ministry is committed to deliver the Great Mosque project by the end of 2016. Works are underway in a normal way and progress is made to keep the promise,” he said.
