Algeria has clear investment relations set by law, says foreign minister

Algeria says welcome to all the economic partners who want to work with it positively and with a good intention, foreign minister said.

• “The law about the relation between the country receiving investments and economic operators is clear and can not be ignored by any operator whatever its nationality,” Mourad Medelci told reporters after a meeting with a visiting US delegation led by Deputy General Counsel for the US Department of Commerce Nicole Lamb-Hale.

• He also said Algeria’s investment conditions and easy procedures offered a large number of cooperation opportunities.

• “The US official has come to Algeria accompanied by two representatives of important US companies. They operate in important and sensitive sectors interesting to Algeria,” he added.

• Lamb-Hale said the relations between Algeria and the US are very strong. “Algeria is an important partner for the US in the region. We hope to enhance bilateral relations and trade exchanges out of hydrocarbons.”

• She added that she is accompanied by 24 US corporations and they are impressed by Algeria’s business opportunities. “We are convinced that technology transfer and skills sharing will make beneficial relations for Algeria and the US.”

• Medelci did not talk about Algeria’s inclusion in the list of countries subjected to additional security measures in US airports.
