Algeria imported over $1billion worth of sugar, cooking oil in 2010
ALGIERS – Algeria has imported brown sugar and raw oil worth $1billion in 2010, the national centre for computer and statistics (CNIS) told Tuesday APS.
Imports of raw sugar reached 1 million tons in 2010 for $ 495 million, according to preliminary figures provided by the CNIS Imports of raw oil were 625,743 metric tons during the same year for a bill of $ 580 million, the source said.
These two products represent about one sixth of the import bill of food items in 2009, estimated at nearly $ 6 billion.
