Authorities started investigating the identity of Algerians who went to Tunisia to meet Zionist Bernard Henry Levy. Algiers’ ambassador To Tunis Taher Hadjar asked Tunisian authorities for details about the visit, Echorouk has learnt.

The French Jew planned to meet a number of people from neighboring countries including Algeria and Libya. Yet, he left Tunisia on Sunday upon request from local authorities following protests against his arrival.

Levy’s visit raised anger among some activists in Tunisia who described him as “Zionist and the Arab people’s enemy.” He is criticized for implementing “Western agendas” to reach a new Middle East.

Tunisian foreign minister Mounji Hamedi said Levy left Tunisia heading for France.

“The government did not know about Levy’s visit to Tunisia. Even France’s embassy did not as well,” he told journalists.

“The government opened an investigation to find out who invited him to Tunisia,” he added.
