Algeria is not in war with Morocco, says Ould Khelifa

Speaker of Algeria’s Parliament Larbi Ould Khelifa said Algeria does not hate Moroccan people and it is not in war with them, in response to Moroccan foreign minister Saleheddine Mezouar’s remarks.

Mezouar said on Saturday that Algeria’s support to the Western Sahara issue is “hostile to integrity.”

“The royal speech before the UN General Assembly is a strong response to Morocco’s opponents including Algeria. Its positions are still hostile to Morocco’s integrity. Its representative was in a bad temper when dealing with the Western Sahara issue,” he told a rally in Rabat.

Ould Khelifa said Algeria will always stand by fair causes in the world.

“The Algerian people and their State stand by fair issues. This is a permanent truth and not temporary positions,” he said on Sunday in an address on a training session.

“We are waiting for the implementation of the UN resolutions to enable Sahrawi people to get their right in self-determination,” he added.
