Algeria killed 125 terrorists in 2016

The national defence ministry said it killed 125 terrorists and arrested 225 others during 2016.

Al-Jaysh (The Army) magazine reported that Algeria’s military forces will continue accomplishing their mission. Positive results were achieved in 2016 as a large number of terrorists and criminals was killed. Considerable quantities of war guns and ammunition were seized.

The magazine also highlighted the army’s efforts to protect borders from illegal immigration and organized crimes.

According to the same source, a total of 2,615 smugglers, 1,603 illegal immigrants and 414 drug traffickers were arrested in 2016. A total of 1.8 million litres of smuggled fuel and 2,556 kg of products for making bombs were seized. The criminals used 447 land rovers, 258 trucks, 340 cars and 112 motorcycles.

Counterterrorism forces also seized 17 rockets, 10 bomb belts, 1,244 ammunition stores, 735 explosive products and 653 kg of dynamites.
