Algeria mobilises 40,000 gendarmes to secure East-West Motorway

The National Gendarmerie Commander Ahmed Boustila gave instructions to his staff to mobilise its forces to implement a security plan on Algeria’s East-West Motorway ahead of Eid Al Adha.

The plan comes to ensure the security of the motorway on day and night along 1,000 km to foil attack attempts. More than 40,000 gendarmes are mobilised on sensitive points following the inauguration of gas stations.
Boustila stressed the necessity of stepping up security check points and the use of radar and cameras in national routes.
The National Gendarmerie’s fifth command had set up a plan to ensure the safety of the motorway to protect its users and fight crimes. Those measures are also meant to reduce traffic accidents.
