On Sunday Algeria-Morocco closed border reach 20 years parallel with the escalation of statements between officials of the two countries, as Morocco started with accusations against Algeria concerning the Western Sahara issue, and its intelligence services exploited media to launch a campaign of distortion with the strong contribution of Moroccan diplomatic representatives in writing the hostile statements.

Algeria from its side, was more diplomatic when FM Ramtane Laamamra praised the Moroccan FM Mezouar who is the cause of raising the tension between the relationships, and who also considered that Western Sahara succeeds in attracting the attention of the United Nations because Algeria pressurized it.

Algeria-Morocco ties which were destroyed since the incident of Marrakech Hotel in August, 24, 1994, when the Moroccan authorities accused Algeria of creating the assassination of foreign tourists and decided to close the borders, then Algeria did the same, did not notice a positive development since that date, but rather worsen due to the repercussions that followed it, whether through Morocco’s attempt to dump the Algerian market with cannabis or through smuggling Algerian oil, and hostile statements of Moroccan officials against Algeria, parallel with asking Algeria to open the border without conditions to serve foreign agenda that aim to disturb Algeria’s stability through Morocco.

This come in a time Algeria imposed three conditions to open the borders, which are; immediate end of the media distortion campaign, complete and affective cooperation to stop the big attack against Algeria through smuggling drugs, and obliging Morocco to finally recognize that Algeria has a firm position towards Western Sahara issue.
