Algeria: MSP warns over withdrawing membership from Legal Affairs Commission
The Movement for the Society of Peace (MSP) Tuesday said it will freeze its membership in the Legal Affairs Commission if no legal character is given to the Article No 69 of the municipal draft bill.
- “The party’s deputies in the People’s National Assembly (APN) are discussing the decision to withdraw from the Legal Affairs Commission membership,” chairman of MSP’s parliamentary group Said Boubeker told Echorouk.
- This comes in response to the remarks of the Commission’s chairman Hocine Kheldoune who said the government or the Commission can make changes to the bill at any time before approbation.
- According to the MSP, the Commission violated Parliament’s rules and regulations.
- The party submitted an official written complaint to Parliament’s speaker Abdelaziz Ziari to prevent this violation in future.
- It called for a meeting of a commission which includes Parliament’s deputies and government’s representatives to give the article No 69 a legal character before approving it at the Council of the Nation.
