Algeria offers houses to teachers in 10 provinces
Algeria’s education ministry will allocate public social houses to teachers in primary, junior high schools and high schools in the south while priority will be given to teachers living in the north as there is a lack in scientific subjects and languages, according to a ministerial circular.
Those houses are official accommodation and they are intended to 10 southern provinces where there is a lack of teachers in some scientific subjects such as mathematics and physics as well as foreign languages including French and English.
According to the same document, regional education authorities will make out decisions for the teachers signed by education directors. Teachers will have to commit to leave the houses if they stop working, change their job, go into retirement or die.
“Collective” houses for single teachers
The circular says married employees are allowed to obtain one social house while single teachers will have “collective houses” for four individual each.
Teachers who have their owned real-estate, a land suitable for building, a public rental house, a participative social house or a rural house can not benefit from this quota of houses. Teachers who have been granted money from the state to buy, build or arrange a rural house are not allowed to obtain those houses as well.
