Algeria Participates In Anti Piracy Naval Exercises In Ukraine

Algerian Navy Forces are to participate in the Sea Breeze 2011 international naval exercises which started on Monday in Ukraine.

 

 

The exercises will last until June 18, the theme is planning and conducting an international anti-piracy operation.

Servicemen from Algeria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Britain, Canada, Denmark, Georgia, Kenya, Macedonia, Moldova, the Netherlands, Germany, Turkey, USA, Ukraine, France and Sweden are taking part in the exercises.

In course of the exercises the military will be practising actions by multinational command staffs and forces while planning and conducting an international peacekeeping operation.

The exercises consist of several stages: first they will deploy forces, then carry out basic preparations, in course of which the participants will co-ordinate their actions, set up communications, ready coastal defence forces, hold parajumping and diving drills, ready the aircraft, and the last stage is the peacekeeping operation itself.
