Algeria plane crash scenario

The black box of Air Algerie plane operated by Spanish airline Swiftair which crashed in Mali « did not work » and did nor record the pilots’ conversation, according to France’s BEA air accident investigator.

The investigators gave the first scenario of the accident, excluding a terrorist attack hypothesis and saying it may have been caused by a thunder.

« The device seemed to be recording but we don’t yet know why it did not work, except that this was not the result of the crash itself, » the BEA’s head Remi Jouty told a press conference.

He added that first indications were that it was a “simple technical problem.”

He also said the strong concentration of debris in one spot on the ground leads experts to believe that the plane crashed upon impact rather than disintegrating in the air.
