Algeria: Policewoman commits suicide at home

A policewoman killed herself on Saturday using her own gun in the province of Tizi Ouzou (100 km east of Algiers). Investigations showed that she suffered from psychological and social pressures.

• The 25-year-old woman ended her life at around 10 pm in her house in the village of Ait Bouadoua. She was in her room when her parents heard shots. They found her dead with the gun in her right hand.

• The scientific police took samples and the gun prints to transfer them to a nearby town.

• Preliminary investigations showed that the victim suffered from psychological and social pressures. She joined the police, three years ago.

• Her colleagues and relatives said she was a nice person and a loyal policewoman.
