“As I am Algerian, I prefer the national expertise in evaluating the assets of the Egyptian company,” Moussa Ben Hamadi said.

“But if the other part (Orascom) has reserves about local expertise, there will be no problem to deal with foreign expertise,” he added.

  • He also said the start of negotiations with the Egyptian investor depends on the evaluation of the mobile phone operator.

Ben Hamadi told reporters Algeria did not prevent the Egyptian investor from exercising its activity in the country, in response to remarks made by Djezzy’s owner Nadjib Sawaris.

Earlier, Sawaris said Djezzy acquires a market share of more than 70 percent of telecommunication in Algeria. “There are three mobile phone operators but we are the biggest. Yet, the Algerian government started tightening the noise on us because we make profits and a big success.”
