Algeria receives 200 international observers

A total of 200 international observers are following Algeria’s presidential elections due to be held on April 9, foreign minister said on Sunday.

“The observers came from many international organisations including the Arab League with 87 and the Organisation of the Islamic Conference with 6 observers,” Mourad Medelci told a news conference.

“Algeria provided the international observers with all necessary means to ensure transparent elections,” he added.

Six candidates are in competition. They are: the current president Abdelaziz Bouteflika, Moussa Touati, Djaid Younsi, Ali Fawzi Rebaine, Mohamed Said Belaid and Louisa Hanoune.
