Algeria to arm civilians against AQIM

Algeria plans to arm rural residents in order to help them fight al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb terrorists, BBC reported on Thursday (November 4th).

“There are regions in which terrorism reigns, where the citizens are asking for weapons to fight terrorism; to those people we will give back weapons,” Algerian Interior Minister Daho Ould Kablia explained, noting that the decision was taken by the defence ministry but would be implemented by his department.
