Foreign minister Ramtane Lamamra Sunday said Algeria will participate in France’s July 14 independence celebrations while he condemned national flag profanation by a man in France. “Algeria expects that France would introduce this criminal into justice.”

“The Algerian people honors who contributed along them in concretizing freedom across the world,” said Lamamra.

“Algeria will participate with the same compositions of 80 other countries. Their citizens were killed during the First World War,” he added.

French foreign minister Laurent Fabius said his country obtained Algeria’s reply on the invitation to attend the celebrations.

This comes as France’s secretary for veterans’ affairs, Kader Arif confirmed Algeria’s participation, saying it is a reply to an official invitation.

Fabius also said three Algerian officers will attend the celebrations.
