Algeria to export meat
Agriculture investors and economic operators working in the desert benefited from procedures to get loans easily, according to the agriculture minister Sid Ahmed Ferroukhi.
“Germans are interested in importing Algerian food such us tomatoes, potatoes and oranges. European markets are difficult a little bit. In exporting to Arab markets, Algeria focuses on Qatar and the United Arab Emirates,” the minister told journalists on Sunday on his visit to the province of Adrar.
“Appropriate measures have been taken to end food excess. Exporting to world markets will be facilitated. Organizations will be set up in 48 provinces to be in charge of exporting operations,” he added.
Speaking about exporting milk, he said Algeria is the biggest meat producer and will start exporting to world markets soon.
He also said 400,000 hectares of land were distributed. Of them, 200,000 were distributed in 2015 to encourage agricultural production.
In Adrar, a total of 60,000 hectares were distributed to investors who “are invited to reduce imports bill and encourage food industry,” said the minister.
