Algeria to play Egypt in the Semi-finals

Once again the Egyptian national squad will have to wrestle with the Algerian side in the African Cup of Nations semi-finals after beating the untameable lions of Cameroon 3-1 in the quarters.

• Both sides had to play extra-time after ending the full period with a draw 1-1. Against all expectations, the Egyptians have succeeded to take the lead early in the first half of the extra-when Jeremy offered a “gift” to the Egyptian striker who amazingly found himself face to face with the goalkeeper and scored the second goal for the Pharaohs.

• Though irreproachable during the match, the South African referee Damon has committed a mistake when he validated the third goal scored by the hero of the match Ahmed Hassen, although the ball didn’t cross the line.

• The upcoming match between Egypt and Algeria will have a special savor for both sides; in one hand, the Fennecs will try to strike back in their way over the Egyptian shameful campaign unleashed against the Algerian people, on the other hand, the Egyptians will, for their part, do their utmost to beat the Fennecs and compensate their disqualification from the World Cup.

• The Greens have already defeated the Egyptians in the semi- finals during the African cup of Nations that took place in Lagos, Nigeria, in 1980. The Fennecs went to the final after series of penalties while the match ended with a draw 2-2.

• In a post match interview, the head coach Rabah Saadane has declared that he had no preference between Cameroon and Egypt, since his squad was ready to replay Oum Darmen , Sudan, scenario.
