Algeria to produce first insuline injection in 2015

The first insuline injection will be locally made in Algeria in 2015 in coordination with Danemark’s Novo Nordisk as part of a partnership agreement signed with Saidal in 2012.

The two parts plan to export the medecine to neighbor countries while Novo Nordisk prepares for producing insuline tablets and develop the injection.

« Talks with the Algerian partners are developping. The laboratory’s employees operating in Algeria coordinate with the other part on a regular basis. This to launch the firt Algerian-Danish insuline injection at Saidal factory in Constantine, » Mike Doustar, Novo Nordisk’s Deputy Director told Echorouk.

« The laboratory employs 450 workers in Algeria. Other long-term projects are planned and will provide other new jobs, » he added.

Speaking about insuline production, he said all the related procedures are ready and they depend on « accreditation papers. »

Asked about insuline price reduction, he said that it depends on produced quantities.

« Production volume can be raised and prices can be reduced if Algerian authorities accept that. The Algerian market is strategic. »
