Algeria To Receive Russia “Sukhoi” Jet Fighters

Algeria will receive 14 Russian Sukhoi “Su30-MKI” fighter jets, under a new agreement that was signed with Moscow.

The Web site, “forums.airforce.ru”, said that the Russian company “Berkut” manufactured the first fighter “Su MKI” that will be exported to Algeria, which has the number of production “10 MK4 505”, noting that the mentioned fighter made its first air fly, adding that Algeria will receive 14 aircraft of this type in 2017-2018.

For its part, the “bmpd” gazette that belongs to the Russian Center for Strategies and Technologies said that the third agreement was signed between Algeria and “Rossoboron export” company, in April 2015 for buying 14 Russian fighter jets.

Algeria received, under the first agreement, that was signed in 2006 over $ 1.5 billion,  28 “Su-MKI” fighter jets, and the agreement was followed by a second in 2009 worth $ 900 million, under which Algeria received 16 other fighter jets in 2011-2012.

Jet fighters “Su30- MKI” is a copy that is exported to Algeria from India, but the Russian fighter jet is designed specifically to Algeria, with special air specifications that have been introduced.

Algerian air force has, at the present time, Soviet and Russian-made warplanes, including 15 fighters “MIG – 25”, and 30 fighters “MIG – 29”, and 20 tactical bomber aircrafts “Su – 24”, and 44 multi-role fighter jets “Su -MKI”.
