Algeria to withdraw driving licence from “death trucks”

Algeria to withdraw driving licence from “death trucks”
Echorouk

The transport and public works ministry will impose strict sanctions including driving licence withdrawal and 30,000 DZ fines on truck drivers for overload, Echorouk has learnt.

An official told Echorouk on Wednesday that the transport minister Boudjemaa Talai assigned a commission to prepare regulatory texts to limit private truck loads.

This comes as trucks are considered as the main reason behind roads deterioration.

According to the same source, overload destroys layers of asphalt. Figures show that a million and a half trucks threaten roads due to overload.

The ministry ordered its departments to provide the National Gendarmerie forces and the police with equipment to weigh loads. It is placed in wheels and give immediate results.
