Algeria: unknown persons perturb aircraft by laser

The National Gendarmerie forces in Hassi Messaoud in the province of Ouarguela (south of Algeria) started an investigation into an attempt to topple down a 763 Boeing plane of Air Algerie, Echorouk has learnt.

The aircraft which was carrying more than 100 passengers last Friday was perturbed by a sophisticated laser device used by unknown people.

According to the same sources, the plane was coming from the Houari Boumediene International Airport to the Krim Belkacem International Airport in Hassi Messaoud. Its pilote received laser signals repeatedly at about 10 pm.

The National Gendarmerie forces surrounded the airport and nearby areas. The investigation is still underway.
