The General Union of the Algerian Workers submitted suggestions to raise the basic minimal wage progressively to 22,000 DZ, then to 25,000 DZ and 28,000 DZ as part of recommendations due to be presented during a tripartite meeting.

Chief of Employers’ Confederation Mohamed Nait Abdelaziz Tuesday said the next second tripartite meeting will be held in December to discuss social issues.

“The first tripartite meeting will be about industry and investment. It will be held on October 10th and will be followed by the tripartite meeting about social issues in December,” Nait Abdelaziz told Echorouk on the phone.

“All the economic partners agreed on different suggestions and suggestions due to be discussed with the government,” he added.

Mebarek Serrai, representative of the General Union of the Algerian Workers said the union proposed to raise the basic minimal wage gradually to 22,000 DZ then to 25,000 DZ and 28, 000 DZ as part of improving workers’ social situation.

He added that the Central Union proposed to set up a national committee in charge of presenting suggestions to improve workers’ social condition and study indemnity systems.
