Algeria: young and old females involved in good and drug smuggling networks

Women have recently entered criminality world in western Algerian provinces as they are involved in criminal cases which remained males' affairs until last years. Different Gendarmerie's units belonging to the second regional command of Oran (west of Algiers) recorded the involvement of 14 women in smuggling cases during the first trimester of this year.

• They smuggled fuel and counterfeited goods brought from Morocco in addition to drug smuggling networks through luxurious cars and stylish girls across the borders, according to the Gendarmerie in Oran.
• The Gendarmerie dealt with 81 cases mostly in Tlemcen, Ain Tmouchent, and Oran (West of Algeria). They were estimated at more than 13 billion centimes.
• According to the same sources, the total of detainees in these cases amounted to 92 including 14 women, who used smuggling as a profession.
