Algeria’s ambassador to Egypt facilitates procedures to Algerian delegation

Representative of Abdelkader Hadjar, Algeria’s ambassador to Egypt, received an Algerian delegation coming from Gaza. “The ambassador assigned me to facilitate all the procedures for the delegation,” Khaled Mechri told Echorouk.

• “The ambassador has been following up the convoy’s journey since it left Algeria until it arrived to Egypt,” he added.

• Members of Gaza convoy 5 left the Gaza Strip on Saturday through the Rafah crossing point after they had given their $5 aid. The delegation paid inspection visits to destroyed areas.

• Egyptian airport’s authorities seized members of Gaza Convoy 5 and prevented them from travelling to their countries, Al Jazeera.Net has learnt.

• “Of them, there are the Mauritanian delegation’s chief Mohamed Mahmoud Oueld Amat, European citizens and a Tunisian man,” said the same source.

• The authorities confiscated the passports and tickets of some members and held them in a cage. The Mauritanian embassy in Egypt was not allowed to intervene.

• The held members consider that act as a sanction against them for showing solidarity to Gaza’s people. “Egyptian authorities refused to deport us and did not accept the embassy’s intervention.”
