Algeria’s eastern borders well controlled, security official says

Algiers-The Algerian eastern borders are secured are well secured and controlled through coordination between all branches of security services, Head of the General Directorate of National Borders Security (DGNS), Divisional Commissioner Khelifa Ounissi said in a press conference here on Wednesday.

 “Algeria’s borders with Tunisia and Libya are secured and the security situation is well controlled thanks to coordination between all security services. Security plan on the borders existed for twenty years. The alert level has been high in recent months because of the Tunisian and Libyan situation”, he added.

Persistent reports said that Algeria is used as transit of arms smuggling to Libya by cells belonging to AQIM active in the Sahel region.
