Algeria’s Parliament adopts social measures in the LFC 2011 budget

Algiers- The National People’s Assembly (APN) passed the Complementary Finance Act (LFC 2011) which includes a series of economic and salary measures in response to discontent of the population.

 The text was adopted at a plenary session chaired by the Assembly’s Head Abdelaziz Ziari and the Finance Minister Karim Djoudi.

 

The 26 members of the Workers’ Party (PT), formation of moderate opposition generally positive toward the government abstained during the vote of the draft, adopted clause by clause and in its entirety.

 

The APN has 389 deputies; at least 249 are from the presidential tripartite alliance.

 

Deputies have introduced eight new articles and 12 amendments to initial draft and 23 items remained unchanged.

 

The LFC 2011 devotes large budget allocations for the management of government measures aiming to support prices of wide consumption, encouraging investment and creating jobs.

 

 The operating budget will rise from 3.434 b DA (34.3 b Euros) in the original initial legislation to 4.291 DA (42.9 b Euros), or 24.95% increase. That of the equipment from 3.184 b DA (30.1 b Euros) to 3.981 b DA (39.8 b Euros, or 25.04% increase).
