Algerian armed troops launch a combing operation in the desert
Echorouk sources said Algerian forces belonging to the Fourth Military zone launched, on Friday morning, a wide combing operation in the desert areas, south of Algeria.
- Algerian forces raided these regions after detecting traces of cars’ wheels that broke on Friday night a desert area near the town of Brezina on the border between Ghardaia and Baied, south of Algeria.
- Security services suspect the movement of suspicious cars that carry terrorists along the Sahara routes banned from exploitation according to security procedures used and specified in southern areas since the assassination of two border guards on February 13, 2006, which provides for the prevention of movements across some dangerous routes only after obtaining security clearance from the military commander.
- The launch of the recent military operation came after the detection cars’ traces in an unknown route, as it was during the nineties limited to traffickers and smugglers.
- Same services expect, through the long field experience of the armed troops, the direction of the terrorists or smugglers is usually from the South to the North, while the cars traces which carried heavy products took the southern routes, which means that terrorist groups sneaked from eastern areas through the region of Al Kaada, known as a hideout of armed terrorist groups in Aflou in Laghouat, South of Algeria, since the beginning of terrorism.
