Algerian Euromediterranean partnership to conduct study on drugs in school

Didouche Mourad high school in Algiers Tuesday hosted an awareness-raising and information campaign about violence and drugs in school. Internet addiction and its impact on schoolchildren were also evoked.

Security forces, customs, the National Office of Fighting Drugs, psychologists and imams took part in the event.

Education advisor at the high school Mustapha Fiotemane said a photo and drawings gallery was organized to show different violence forms inside schools. This was followed by a lecture given to pupils about negative behaviour and school violence. 

Municipal senior officer Belkacem Ferah talked about different kinds of drug consumed by Algerian young people. He displayed expressive photos, showing drug danger on the man’s health and body. 

A representative of the National Office of Fighting Drugs said a study will be conducted by the Office in partnership with a Euro Mediterranean organization to measure the spread of drugs consumption phenomenon in school.
