Algerian families living in the area of Gheriane (80 km from Tripoli) asked high authorities to intervene to protect them from mercenaries.

  • The families told Echorouk the intervention of Algeria’s ambassador to Libya is necessary to protect them from being harmed in the Libyan capital, Benghazi and Gheriane.
  •
  • One of their members said Algerians and Maghrebins are afraid of revenge and being killed by mercenaries. On the other hand, the army helped people in distributing weapons to them to protect themselves.
  •
  • Representative of the Algerians living in Libya said they are in an embarrassing situation and there is a need for the president’s intervention to know their conditions. They ask him to call on Maamar Gaddafi to not harm them or to send a commission to check the situation there.
  •
  • According to official sources, mercenaries tried to besiege Djebel Nafoussa area. Seven vehicles moved in streets on Tuesday and opened fire on protesters killing hundreds.
