Algerian Foreign Affairs Minister, Mourad Medelci
The Algerian Foreign Affairs Minister, Mr. Mourad Medelci said Algeria is committed to the provisions of international law, with regard to their position on the Declaration of Kosovo's independence from the Republic of Serbia . Medelci made the statement on the sidelines of the spring session’s opening at the Algerian lower house of parliament. For Mr. Medelci, the Declaration of Independence of Kosovo did not abide by international laws and Algeria , will not recognize Kosovo, at least for the time being.
Medelci further added the Kosovo issue is still in its beginning while stands towards the issue are still unclear referring to Russia ’s refusal to see Kosovo independent from Serbia . It is worth mentioning that Kosovo’s declaration of independence coincided with President Bouteflika’s visit to Moscow . Algeria and Russia said at the end of Bouteflika’s visit to the federation to converge in visions and stands regarding international and regional conflicts.
