Algerian gas exported to Tunisia without control since six months

Security services of Hassi Mesaoud (south of Algeria) launch an investigation on a serious case related to harming the national economy through exporting of large quantities of natural gas to Tunisia from the pumping point in El Barma on the Tunisian borders without customs control since November 2010.

A report, available at Echorouk, shows that large quantities of natural gas were exported in favor of the “Tunisian Company of Electricity and Gas”, without Algerian customs’ control as provided for in articles 165 to 172 of Customs Law, which states the need for the presence of customs control to monitor exports to foreign countries.

Same report shows that the Regional Directorate of Customs in Hassi Messaoud (south of Algeria), had failed to monitor the operation as the way prescribed by law.

It also shows that the volume of daily qualities exported to Tunisia range between 21.000 m3 and 36.000 m3.
