Algerian Illegal Immigrants Are Stuck For Three Months In The Libyan City of Zouara

Algerian League for the Human Rights Defense called on the Algerian Foreign Ministry to intervene to repatriate 50 Algerian detainees who were in the Libyan city of Zouara for more than three months.

Algerian League expressed, in the correspondent, which copy is available to Echorouk, its concern about the Algerian state’s forgetfulness of the file of the detainees at the Passports’ Center in the Libyan city of Zouara, and mentioned in the context, that a list of 50 people, including six from the city of Umm al-Bouaki and Constantine, where it concerns “A.A” who was born in 1991 in Umm al-Bouaki, “B, H” who was born in 1990, in the same area, “K.H” who was born in 1993, “J.M” born in 1988 in Umm al-Bouaki, “B.A” born in 1993, “B.M” 26 from Constantine (eastern Algeria), where their families are still waiting for the intervention of the Algerian authorities to return them to the homeland.

In the same context, the ALHRD asserted the need to return the 50 detainees who were stranded in the Libyan city of Zouara since more than three months, where they were arrested after traveling through Sabrata Beach for illegal immigration to Italy, but their journey failed before leaving Libya, then they were transferred to the city of Zouara and exactly the center of passports’ intelligence which branch belongs to the Ministry of the Interior National Accord Government.

It confirmed that the center’s director contacted the detained Algerians and confirmed that he had corresponded with the concerned Algerian authorities in order to coordinate and expedite the deportation of all Algerians in the center. 

He also expected to send a delegate from the Algerian consulate in Guafsa to complete the procedures for their travel and deportation to Algeria.

According to the league, the same center contains illegal immigrants from Tunisia, Egypt and Morocco. 

Egyptian consulate coordinated with the center and on October,23, 2017 it deported 31 Egyptian youth. 

The same procedures were taken by the Tunisian and Moroccan authorities, and only Algerian migrants are waiting for their country’s authorities to move and save them.
