Algerian illegal immigrants protest in the Spanish King's Square
Algerian illegal immigrants launch an open sit-in and strike in the Spanish city “Ceuta”, refusing to enter the center, which was allocated to them, describing it as “a camp”, after they have been detained inside it for two months without being release or deported to Algeria.
Spanish official news agency “Efe” said the Algerian illegal immigrants’ protest due to their refusal to live in the temporary detention center for foreigners because of the circumstances that characterize this center, which was called by them, in their banners, as a “camp”, and not a temporary detention center, as they remained in detention inside it for more than two months and were neither deported nor released.
Algerian illegal immigrants, whose number exceeds 50, asked in a letter to the authorities of Ceuta, located on the borders with Morocco, for the need to be be deported to the Spanish island in the European continent, due to the harsh conditions which they face inside the center, harassment and attacks by the Spanish police against them in the center and in the city’s port.
Alvaro Digital’s news website published pictures of the sit-in of Algerian illegal immigrants in the King’s Square in Ceuta, showing a large part of their suffering, showing young Algerians sleeping on the ground and on the cardboard, wearing a blue uniform like prisoners and criminals.
Pictures showed tight security enhancements by the Spanish police which surrounded the Algerian protesters, fearing a possible violence, especially after the protesters insisted on staying in the square in the night.
In a paradox, which probably happens for the first time, showing the contrary, the Spanish 9th television channel broadcast since the days the news of employing 96 workers in building workshops in Algiers, which belong to the Spanish companies from Cheva near Valencia, which is something that happens for the first time in this European country, due to unemployment where it is the highest in Europe.
