Algerian National Gendarmerie and its Mauritanian counterpart approved special measures to cope with the situation in the Sahel region, as they put a new security plan to combat terrorism, human and drug trafficking in this region, Echorouk sources said.

New security plan was prepared after the visit by a delegation from the Mauritanian gendarmerie, that was led by Mauritania Gendarmerie Chief of Staff, Brigadier Soultan Ould Mohamed to Algeria, and after talks Algerian National Gendarmerie leaders.
According to available information, the new security plan is based primarily on new measures to counter terrorism, by raising the number of security elements for the region’s protection, and to intensify  the intelligence operations and exchange information.
New security plan cannot stop fears by Sahel countries’ authorities due to insecurity in the area, which may give many reasons and justifications for foreign military interference, against the background of the intervention of some Western countries, which nationals suffered kidnapping forcing them to move from negotiation strategy to military intervention as it was done by France in the French Mauritanian military intervention in northern Mali, failing to reach the liberation of French hostage “Michel Germano”, because they, immediately after the kidnapping of the five French nationals to dispatch nearly 80 soldiers, who are currently located on the border between Niger, Mali and Algeria, then they asked the Pentagon to provide military assistance.
