Algerian Police: 9196 adolescents implicated in crime in 2010
Algiers- At least 9196 adolescents implicated in crime were arrested by police in Algeria in 2010 compared to 9984 in 2009, the judicial police said here on Monday.
Head of the judicial police Ms. Kheira Messaoudane at the National Office of Protecting Kids said; “Number of kids implicated in crime in 2010 has dropped to 788 minors compared to 2009 (-8%)”.
“The decline in the number of kids implicated in crime is significant compared to 2009. Theft is top of the offenses committed by juvenile delinquents in 2010 with 3773 minors, including 72 girls, followed by beating and intentional assault with 2153 minors, including 103 girls and destruction of 382 properties by 30 girls”.
Police also counted 78 minors implicated in violence against parents and 19 in intentional murder and 14 in deliberate attempts to murder.
