9,000 women applied for job at the national police services

The head of the national police services Ali Tounsi has hailed the positive role played by Algerian policewomen in the daily work done by the national police services thanks to their abnegation and their efficiency.

He indicated that the scientific police body, for instance, was made up of 50 percent by women who contributed with their know-how to the unravelling of a host of thorny cases.
Ali Tounsi stressed that Algerian policewomen could also play an outstanding part in proximity police work which requires a close and regular contact with the citizens.
He further said that 9,000 new job applications, made by young women in 2007, were being studied by the general management of the national police services (DGSN) pending their recruitment.
This is part of a new strategy aimed at significantly beefing up the national police force in order to deal more efficiently with all forms of criminality, he pointed out.
