Algerian public works minister praises the  new law regulating the sector

The Minister of public works Ammar Ghoul has lauded the new law that rules public contracts and considered it as an efficient tool to fight against corruption belittling at the same time the negative impacts of favouring the national companies over foreign ones as concerns the realization of the different projects.

  • M Ghoul has indicated that the five –year plan initiated by the Algerian authorities is a formidable opportunity for the national companies to display their know how and abilities, he bluntly declared “ If the delays are the price to pay to fight against corruption, so be it” .

  • Talking to “Echourok” the minister has indicated that the he was satisfied by the content of the new law endorsed recently by the ministerial council in the sense that it gives priority to the national companies and imposes rigorous procedures.

  • M Ghoul went on saying that the overall economic situation of the country has alleviated the Algerian authorities from the burden they suffered of in the past as a result of the black decade.

  • He has declared” The Algerian authorities had to correct some flaws that surfaced during the implementation of a large economic program which saw the emergence of the phenomenon of corruption”.

  • “The new law will fix the rules with transparency and banish corruption, the instructions given by the Prime Minister which require the completion of the technical aspects surrounding the projects will, for sure, limit the coats during their realizations” , he said.

  • The minister was optimistic as to the choice of favoring the national companies over foreign ones arguing that many countries have followed the same process and succeeded in their choice. He added that the Algerian companies have acquired a huge experience over the previous economic recovery plan initiated by the Algerian president.

  • Time has come for these companies to prove their skills through the creation of consortiums in order to fulfil their contracts, following the example of foreign groups that realized the previous programs.
