Algerian study: 65% of youngsters addicted to porn web sites in Algeria

Algerian Survey shows that 33% of children users of internet received exploitative offers by criminal organizations and international bodies specializing in prostitution and children trafficking, while another scientific study shows that 65% of Algerian youngsters are addicted to pornography websites.

 

• A scientific study by the National Organization for Health Promotion and Development of Research on 1000 Algerian children in a number of primary, middle and secondary schools, shows that 40% international networks spread prostitution and pornography via internet, while 33% of internet users receive exploitative offers after registering their names and e-mails.

• Professor Mostafa Kheyati, head of the National Organization for Health Promotion and Development of Research, called on Algerian government to coordinate with the civil society and associations of parents of pupils in order to develop a national plan to protect our children from the internet risks, whether through domestic use or cafes.

• “The lack of parental control opens the doors before international networks specialized in exploiting children via internet websites. Government must issued laws in order to protect children from potential cyber crimes. We cannot protect our children from these international networks if we do not use the new techniques”.

• A similar study by the Centre of Media Training in Algiers on 50 cafes shows that 65% of Algerian youngsters are addicted to pornographic websites, as 90% see pornographic pictures and 10% prefer watching on pornographic videos.

• The study counted 150 porn sites that are most frequent by Algerian youngsters.

• U.S studies show that over 372 million pages on websites promote pornography through voice records, videos and pictures, and 2.8 billion e-mails containing pornographic messages are sent every day via internet.
