Algerian Universities Do Not Exist In World Rankings, At The Bottom Of African Classification

Last world rankings for the top 200 universities in 2017 by “Uni Rank” showed again that Algerian universities are still out of the gloabal ranking, while the University of Qasdi Marbah in Ouergla (southern Algeria) ranked 41 among the top 200 universities in Africa and 38th best Arab university, at a time when the Minister of Higher Education, Taher Hadjar, wondered about the credibility of these classifications, accusing the States of paying money to ensure the ranks of their universities.

The latest ranking by Uni Rank shows that American universities still dominate the top 200 of the world’s top 200 universities, while South African universities are ranked first in the top 200 African universities, followed by the American University in Cairo (11) and Cairo University in 13th place, while 25 Algerian universities stand out in the African ranking for the top 200 universities, as Kasdi Merbah university in Ouergla (Southern Algeria) ranks 41, followed by Abou Bakr Belkayed University in Telemcen (Western Algeria) ranked 51, and Mentouri University in Constantine (Eastern Algeria) ranks 12, while the University of Mohammad Khithar in Biskra (southern Algeria) ranks 61, followed by Houari Boumediene University of Science and Technology in Algiers ranks 68.

University of Mouloud Maamri in Tizi Ouzou ranks 83, Algiers University 1 ranked 85, followed by Farhat Abbas university in Setif ranks 86, Abderrahmane Mira University in Bejaia ranks 90, followed by Abdelhamid Ben Badis university in Mostaghanem 98 and Batna university 1 ranks 100.

University of Hassiba Ben Bouali in Chlef ranks 103, Mohammed Boudiaf  university in Msila ranks 111, Sidi Bel Abbes Djilali El Yabes university ranks 130, followed by the University of Science and Technology and Oran 136, University of Science and Technology in Oran ranks 136, and the University of Ahmed Ben Bella in Oran ranks 14, while the University of Badji Mokhtar in Annaba ranks 150, followed by Ahmed Bouguerra in Boumerdes ranks 161, and the University of August 20 in Skikda ranks 163,  and Yahia Fares university in Al-Media University ranks 171, followed by Seddik Ben Yahia university in Jijel that ranks 177, and the Higher School of Computer Information ranked 182, followed by Ibn Khaldoun University in 183rd place. 

The University of May 8, 1945 in Guelma and Al-Arbi Tebessi University in Tebessa ranks in the bottom (196) and (199).
