Algerian universities ranked dead last
The Mantouri University of Constantine ranked 27th in Africa according to the International Organization of Universities and Colleges. The Cairo University topped the list followed by South Africa’s universities.
The Abu Bak Belkaid of Tlemcen ranked 35th followed the Mouloud Mammeri University of Tizi Ouzou which came 41st. The University of Batna ranked 42 while the University of Algiers occupied the 48th place.
The ranking is based on scientific publications, theses value, researches quality and the university official websites.
According to some teachers at the University of Setif, this ranking of the Algerian universities is due to the lack of research means and catastrophic situation of laboratories.
