Algerians criticize Faghouli as he talked about French colonization
Violent response to Algerian player Sofiane Faghouli’s remarks on French has continued for the third day on their newspapers and websites.
Faghouli called on Algerian born palyers to join the national team because French society will not accept them due to history heritage between the two countries.
He said he read history and knew that what France perpetrated in “our ancestors is very serious. My choice is indisputable. Even if dual citizens want to be French, France will not accept them.”
The player was criticized and described as hypocrite, racist, extremist and ungrateful. Yet, he did not find who defends him in Algeria.
French-speaking newspapers blamed him for talking about history while MCA’s former player Ali Bencheikh said Faghouli’s remarks have nothing to do with football.
On social media, dual citizen migrants washed hands of Faghouli’s remarks, saying they are not concerned.
