Algerians hold funerals for Hocine Ait Ahmed
The body of Algeria’s hero Hocine Ait Ahmed Friday was taken from his political home at the FFS party’s headquarters to his hometown in Tizi Ouzou.
The party’s partisans and the late man’s fans attended the funerals. Tens of buses were allocated to transport people to avoid anarchy and traffic jam. Everyone was ready to say farewell to Ait Ahmed’s body.
People from different provinces attend the funerals
Policemen were seen in the funerals while the FFS’ partisans were in charge of organization. The army forces were deployed in areas surrounding Ait Ahmed’s village to secure the funerals.
Some people wanted to transmit political messages and remind of the FFS’ position, saying it is always in the opposition line.
“We remain with the opposition,” “Algeria is free and democratic,” they shouted.
They also shouted slogans criticizing authorities.
Politics present in the funerals
Some politicians attended the funerals including lawyer Mokrane Ait Larbi, the Secretary General of Islah party Filali Ghouni, Nahda party’s leader Mohamed Douibi, Colonel Amirouche’s son Abdehak Benhamouda and personalities from different parties.
Former head of government Mouloud Hamrouche arrived accompanied with the FFS’ leading members.
Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal, religious affairs minister Mohamed Aissa and Parliament’s speaker Larbi Ould Khelifa were present to represent the government.
