Algerians imported $304 m of clothes during a year

Customs statistics that were obtained by Echorouk showed on Tuesday that during the year 2013, Algeria imported 144.9 tons of clothes and more than 24,000 billion centimes, the equivalent of $304 m. 

Algeria’s imports of clothes rises during the first two months of the current year, compared to the last two years, as the financial envelope reached more than 12.8 billion centimes ,the equivalent of $164 million, and imported 53.4 thousand tons of clothes, especially kids and women clothes. 

According to data of the statistics and media center of Customs, France is in the forefront of countries that are exporting clothes to Algeria, during the first half of 2014, with more than $31.4000, then Turkey with $ 19,6000 dollars. 

Algeria resorts, in the framework of the importation of clothing, to providing clothes to the poor, or what is known as worn clothes, as it paid a bill that exceeds 200 million centimes in 2013 to import 18 tons of worn clothes, and from European countries such as Britain, France, Spain, Italy, Germany, and the United States and Asian countries such as China, Korea and Turkey. 

During the first half of 2014, the list of countries which provide Algeria with worn clothes reached Saudi Arabia, with an amount that exceeds 100 million centimes to import worn clothes. 

Federation of Merchants and Craftsmen confirmed that Algeria’s expanses in importing clothes on the eve of Eid al-Fitr exceeds 100 billion centimes.
