Algerians To Benefit From E-Payment Cards As From Tuesday

After years of waiting for the e-payment service, its application will be launched as from Tuesday, as every Algerian who has a bank account will be able to use 9 service and commercial sectors like the payment of water bills, or buying a ticket on board of an Airlines company, both by using computers or smart mobile phones.

Head of the Banks Professional Association, Boualem Djebar, told Echorouk on Sunday, that the application of the e-payment service will be officially on October,4, where the process and its stages will be presented starting from the way to extract the card and reaching the electronic payment, in an official ceremony.

Electronic payment service will enable customers to pay their bills online, and to do daily business transactions easily, and it comes with 9 sectors that will be involved in the process, which are the large national companies like Air Algerie, Tassili Airlines, the National Company for Water Distribution “SEAL”, the National Comany for Gas and Electricity “Sonelgaz” and Algérie Telecom, and three mobile phone’s customers, and other sectors that will benefit from the service later.

IT experts do not rule out that the process will reach the acquisition of purchases, and paying the cost of a meal in a restaurant or even buy clothes and shoes on the Internet or for hotel reservations.

In this context, an expert in information and communication technologies, Younes Kerrar, told Echorouk that the procedure will reduce the money circulation outside the banking system, and will allow the absorption of liquidity outside banks, given that banks’ cards are currently used only to withdraw money from bank and post cash machines.

“E-Payment Card is an additional service that is offered by the bank to its customers, and it carries the bank account’s number and the password. It allows to carry out daily business transactions either directly, as it is enough that the customer goes to the Airlines office to buy a ticket electronically, and the service can be realized via Internet”.

“Companies must take all the necessary measures and provide security and safety standards to prevent any bypass or penetration through the use of software and hardware to secure networks”.
