Algeria’s ANP Army classified 17th in world rankings

According to a site specialized in providing analytical databases about military powers in the world, “Global Power Fire,” the Algerian army, in addition to securing the 17th place among the 126 most powerful armies in the world, ranks in the 2nd spot in the Arab world.

This world ranking by “Global Power Fire” was established on the basis of 50 criteria, including, among others, the number of personnel, procurement and military manufacturing, the defense budget, natural resources, etc. It excludes nuclear weapons and the involvement of countries in conflict.

Moreover, globally, the United States maintained the top spot, followed by Russia, China, India, the UK, France, Japan, South Korea, Israel and Egypt respectively in the top ten worldwide.

And thus Egypt is first in the Arab world ahead of Algeria, Saudi Arabia (21st), Syria (23rd), Morocco (39th), United Arab Emirates (45th), Yemen (49th) , Jordan (59th), Kuwait (69th), Oman (70th) and Tunisia (73).

The report added that the army is strong with more than half a million active troops and 400,000 reservists and can mobilize more than 17 million Algerians able to carry weapons.

In addition, the weaponry possessed by the ANP consists for the land forces of 975 heavy guns, 1898 tanks, 250 trucks and 148 missile carriers.

As for the national Navy, it is endowed with 96 warships, including 8 frigates, 6 corvettes, six submarines and 38 VLT fighters for coastal defense.

For their part, the Algerian air forces are equipped with 451 aircraft, including 89 fighters, 225 large aircraft and 99 standard aircraft, in addition to 64 training aircraft, 244 helicopters, including 34 to be used in combat operations.
