Algeria's imports rise by 9.38% in October 2010

ALGIERS- Algeria's imports increased by USD3.44 billion in October 2010, up 9.38% compared with the same period in 2009 (USD3.14 billion), for the first time since early 2010, according to the Customs Department.

After drops recorded as from January 2010, imports increased in October concerning four of seven product groups, according to provisional figures provided by the Customs’ National Centre for Statistics and Data Processing (CNIS).

The most significant rises were recorded by non-food consumer goods (63.74%) estimated at USD596 million, foodstuffs (USD476 million), that is, +25.93%), industrial equipments (1.40 billion, +7.93%) and unfinished products (USD112 million, 5.66%), according to the centre.
