Algiers: Police arrest university teacher’s killer

Lecturer Aicha Ghatache who was killed in her house in Algiers was stabbed in the chest and stomach. She was beaten by a sharp tool on the head. The killers were arrested while their third partner is on the run, according to the scientific police.

• According to sources, the suspects opened the house door by bolts. They found the woman and started beating and stubbing her. Then, they stole home appliances, a laptop and jewels.

• The main suspect, 22, is the victim’s neighbour. He went to his house to hide the things he stole but investigations detected him and his partners. The second suspect was arrested while the third criminal is still on the run.

• According to the same sources, the crime has nothing to do with political reasons. The main purpose was theft only.

• Previously, the National Coordination for Change and Democracy said political reasons are behind the murder as the victim was member of the organisation.
