Man No 2 in the dissolved-Islamic Salvation Front (FIS) Ali Benhadj critisized a release issued by Saudi Arabia’s General Mufti about Islamic State (ISIS) and Al-Qaeda for having a political aspect and not religious.

« This is an attempt from Saudi Arabia not to be responsible for the spread of Wahabi ideas which are a main reference for extremist groups, » Benhadj said in a mosque in Algiers.

« The Saudi State follows Wahabi ideas and teach them in colleges. Saudi scholars have to be fair, » he added.

« Saudi scholars’ fatwas considered Libya’s Gaddafi and Syria’s Al-Assad as unbelievers because of their religious beliefs. »

Benhadj believes that Saudi Arabia wants to be the « spokesman » for Islam and rejects any movement or a state which tries to establish it.

« Saudi Arabia was an ally in the conspiracy against Sudan, Palestine and Egypt. The Saudi Mufti should not talk about unity while there is a conflict among the royal family’s members on the throne, » he said.
